Sumario: | Chromaticity measurement at the LHC is based on energy modulation which is incompatible with high intensity beam operation. A new measurement technique compatible with high intensity beams is tested at injection and top energy. It is based on a fit of the beam transfer function obtained from transverse excitation and measurement of a single bunch using the transverse damper (ADT). When compared to the measurement based on energy modulation, the BTF approach exhibits a bias and resolution in the order of 1 to 2 units. These first results demonstrate the feasibility of the approach and steer future developments to reduce the bias and improve the resolution. |
