Sumario: | A liquid krypton calorimeter is under construction for the experiment NA48 at CERN, which aims to measure direct CP-violation in the system $K^{0}-\bar{K^{0}}$ with a precision better than 0.02%. The detector has a high data rate capability with low noise channels and large dynamic range. A prototype of such a detector has been tested. Excellent energy, position and time resolution have been obtained, key points for the realization of the experiment. Moreover both a good uniformity in the response and a precise charge calibration with a long term stability are possible. The results of the test of the prototype in an electron beam are presented together with the implications on the geometry of the final design of the read-out structure. |
