Sumario: | Superconductivity allows substantial enhancement of the performance of magnets and accelerating cavities and therefore finds widespread application in high energy physics laboratories. In a first part of these Academic Training Lectures an introduction into the phenomenon will be given, discussing especially the mechanism of current transport at DC and at microwave frequencies. In the second part the emphasis will be on applications describing how the unique properties and demands of superconducting materials led to new technical solutions. |
