Sumario: | A critical reappraisal of the Standard Model (SM) will force us to new physics beyond it. I will argue that we have good reasons to believe that the latter is likely to lie close to the electroweak scale. After discussing the possibility that such new physics may be linked to a dynamical breaking of SU(2)xU(1) (technicolour), I will come to the core of the course: low energy supersymmetry. I will focus on the main phenomenological features, while emphasizing the relevant differences for various options of supersymmetrization of the SM. In particular the economical (but very particular) minimal SUSY SM (MSSM)will be discussed in detail. Some touchy issues for SUSY like the flavour problem or matter stability will be adressed. I will conclude with the prospects for SUSY searches in high-energy accelerators, B-factories and non-accelerator physics. |
