Proposal for the award of a contract without competitive tendering for the supply of photomultiplier tubes for the ATLAS tile calorimeter

This document concerns the award of a contract without competitive tendering for the supply of photomultiplier tubes for the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter. For the reasons set out in this document, the Finance Committee is invited to approve the proposal to award a contract to HAMAMATSU PHOTONICS FRANCE (CH) for the supply of 10 140 photomultiplier tubes for the ATLAS Tile Calorimeter for a total amount of 242 346 000 Japanese yen, not subject to revision, and an option for an additional 1 000 photomultiplier tubes for a total amount of 23 900 000 Japanese yen, not subject to revision, bringing the overall total to an amount not exceeding 266 246 000 Japanese yen. At the current rate of exchange, the total amount of the contract is equivalent to approximately 3 475 000 Swiss francs. CERN?s contribution shall not exceed 840 000 Swiss francs. The firm has indicated that the work to be done will be distributed as follows: JP-95% and CH-5%.
