description This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply and installation of automatic fire detection systems. Following a market survey carried out among 76 firms in ten Member States, a call for tenders (IT-2638/ST/LHC) was sent on 9 August 1999 to three firms and seven consortia, in six Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received eight tenders from four firms and four consortia. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract for the supply and installation of fire detection systems with the consortium HEKATRON (DE) ? SOTEB (FR), the lowest bidder, for an amount of 2 130 000 Swiss francs, subject to revision starting from 1 January 2002, with an option for additional equipment of the same kind for 1 000 000 Swiss francs. The consortium has indicated the following distribution by country of the work covered by this adjudication proposal: (DE) 60%; (FR) 40%.
