Sumario: | This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of the main superconducting quadrupoles and assembly of the cold masses of the LHC Short Straight Sections. Following a market survey carried out among 21 firms in ten Member States and one firm in Japan, a call for tenders (IT-2455/LHC/LHC) was sent on 21 October 1999 to six firms and one consortium consisting of two firms in five Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received six tenders. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with the firm ACCEL INSTRUMENTS (DE), the lowest bidder, for the supply of the main superconducting quadrupoles and the assembly of the cold masses of the LHC Short Straight Sections for a total amount of 60 209 516 Deutschmarks (49 458 600 Swiss francs), subject to revision for contractual deliveries after 31 December 2001. The above amount in Swiss francs has been calculated using the rate of exchange stipulated in the tender. The firm ACCEL INSTRUMENTS has declared the following origin of the equipment covered by this adjudication proposal: DE-53%, IT-39%, FR-5% and UK-3%. |
