Sumario:This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of the 160 MQT, 40 MQS and 56 MQTL superconducting corrector magnet assemblies for the LHC. Following a market survey carried out among 39 firms in thirteen Member States, two firms in Japan and one firm in the USA, a call for tenders (IT-2594/LHC/LHC) was sent on 7 February 2000 to 10 firms in seven Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received five tenders. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with the firm ANSALDO ENERGIA (IT), the lowest bidder, for the supply of the 160 MQT, 40 MQS and 56 MQTL superconducting corrector magnet assemblies for the LHC for a total amount of 3 517 862 euros (5 655 000 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, with an option for the supply of up to 20 MQT, 20 MQS and 20 MQTL additional corrector magnet assemblies, for a total amount of 809 353 euros (1 301 043 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, bringing the total amount to a maximum of 4 327 215 euros ( 6 956 043 Swiss francs), not subject to revision. The firm ANSALDO ENERGIA (IT) has declared that at least 80% of the contract value will originate from Italy with the balance from other CERN Member States.
