Proposal for the award of a contract for the supply and assembly of the LHC arc short straight section cryostats

This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of 360 LHC arc short straight section cryostats and their assembly, eight spare cryostat units and components for 64 LHC dispersion suppressor short straight section cryostats. Following a market survey carried out among 57 firms in sixteen Member States, a call for tenders (IT-2593/LHC/LHC) was sent on 31 January 2000 to 14 firms in six Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received seven tenders. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with the firm BDT (DE), the lowest bidder, for the supply of 360 LHC arc short straight section cryostats and their assembly, eight spare cryostat units and components for 64 LHC dispersion suppressor short straight section cryostats for a total amount of 12 582 000 euros (20 250 729 Swiss francs), subject to revision for contractual deliveries after 31 December 2001, with an option for the dismantling of 18 short straight sections for an amount of 96 840 euros (155 864 Swiss francs), subject to revision for work scheduled after 31 December 2001 and the additional storage for 20 short straight sections for an amount of 6 438 euros (10 362 Swiss francs), and including alternative multilayer insulation blankets for an amount of 191 000 euros (307 415 Swiss francs), bringing the total amount to a maximum of 12 876 278 euros (20 724 370 Swiss francs). The firm BDT (DE) has declared the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: DE-53.7%, SK-39.9%, FR-6.4%.
