A search for $\nu_{\mu} \rightarrow \nu_{\tau}$ oscillations using the NOMAD detector

NOMAD is a neutrino oscillation experiment designed to search for $\nu_\tau$ appearance in the CERN-SPS wide band $\nu_\mu$ beam. Signal detection relies on the identification of $\nu_\tau$ charge d current interactions using kinematic criteria. The analysis of the 1995 data sample yields no oscilla...

Sumario:NOMAD is a neutrino oscillation experiment designed to search for $\nu_\tau$ appearance in the CERN-SPS wide band $\nu_\mu$ beam. Signal detection relies on the identification of $\nu_\tau$ charge d current interactions using kinematic criteria. The analysis of the 1995 data sample yields no oscillation signal. Combining all studied $\tau$ decay modes, a limit of $\sin^22\theta_{\mu \tau}~< ~4.2\times10^{-3}$ is obtained for large $\Delta m^2$ at the 90\% confidence level.
