Proposal for the award of a contract for the supply of twenty 400 MHz 300 kW klystrons for the LHC

This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of twenty 400 MHz 300 kW klystrons for the LHC. A call for tenders (IT-2784/SL/LHC) was sent on 7 July 2000 to three firms in three Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received three tenders. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with THOMSON TUBES ELECTRONIQUES (FR), the lowest bidder, for the supply of twenty 400 MHz 300 kW klystrons for the LHC for a total amount of 2 936 893 euros (4 474 063 Swiss francs), not subject to revision. The rate of exchange which has been used is that stipulated in the tender. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: FR-91%; DE-5% and FI-4%.
