Proposal for the award of a contract for the supply of insulation-vacuum barriers for the LHC short straight sections

This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of insulation-vacuum barriers for the LHC short straight sections. Following a market survey carried out among 55 firms in thirteen Member States, a call for tenders (IT-2748/LHC/LHC) was sent on 24 July 2000 to 10 firms and one consortium of two firms, in five Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received four tenders from three firms and one consortium in four Member States. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with the consortium RIAL VACUUM (IT) - SKG ITALIANA (IT), the lowest bidder, for the supply of 108 insulation-vacuum barriers for a total amount of 1 875 400 Swiss francs, not subject to revision, with an option for the supply of up to 40 additional insulation-vacuum barriers for an amount of 687 600 Swiss francs, not subject to revision, bringing the total amount to 2 563 000 Swiss francs, not subject to revision. The consortium has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: IT-90% and FR-10%.
