Sumario: | This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of 828 tonnes of austenitic steel strips for the collars of the LHC superconducting quadrupole magnets. Following a market survey (MS-2618/LHC/LHC) carried out among 39 firms in twelve Member States and two firms in Japan, a call for tenders (IT-2852/LHC/LHC) was sent on 14 August 2000 to six firms in four Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received four tenders from four firms in four Member States. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with KRUPP THYSSEN NIROSTA (DE), the lowest bidder, for the supply of 828 tonnes of austenitic steel strips for the collars of the LHC superconducting quadrupole magnets for a total amount of 2 619 617 euros (3 998 194 Swiss francs), not subject to revision until 31 December 2001, with an option for the supply of up to 10% additional steel strips for an additional amount of 261 962 euros (399 819 Swiss francs), not subject to revision until 31 December 2001, bringing the total amount to 2 881 579 euros (4 398 013 Swiss francs), not subject to revision until 31 December 2001. The rate of exchange which has been used is that stipulated in the tender. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: DE - 100%. |
