Proposal for the award of a contract for the supply of cooling tubes for the beam screens of the LHC arc magnets

This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of cooling tubes for the beam screens of the LHC arc magnets. Following a market survey carried out among 32 firms in twelve Member States, a call for tenders (IT-2968/LHC/LHC) was sent on 23 July 2001 to two firms in two Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received one tender. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with FINE TUBES (GB), for the supply of 7 950 cooling tubes, of two different lengths, for the beam screens of the LHC arc magnets for a total amount of 887 597 pounds sterling (2 041 392 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, with an option for up to 20% of additional cooling tubes, for an additional amount of 177 519 pounds sterling (408 278 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, bringing the total amount to 1 065 116 pounds sterling (2 449 670 Swiss francs), not subject to revision. The rate of exchange which has been used is that stipulated in the tender. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: GB - 100%.
