Proposal for the award of a contract for the supply of beamline shielding between the LHC machine tunnel and the atlas experimental hall

This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of cast iron radiation shielding structures for installation around the beamline elements between the LHC machine tunnel and the ATLAS experimental hall (TX1S shielding). Following a market survey carried out among 61 firms in fourteen Member States, a call for tenders (IT-2914/EST/LHC) was sent on 16 August 2001 to five firms in three Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received one tender. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with SIEMPELKAMP NUKLEARTECHNIK (DE) for the supply of cast iron shielding elements for the TX1S shielding for a total amount of 1 557 922 Swiss francs, not subject to revision. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: DE-100%.
