Proposal for the award of a contract for the supply of quench heaters for the LHC superconducting insertion quadrupole magnets

This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of quench heaters for the LHC superconducting insertion quadrupole magnets. A call for tenders (IT-3047/LHC/LHC) was sent on 23 August 2001 to 18 firms in ten Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received two tenders from two firms in two Member States. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with CICOREL (CH), for the supply of quench heaters for a total amount of 1 107 455 Swiss francs, not subject to revision, with options for an additional ten per cent of quench heaters, for an additional amount of 110 745 Swiss francs, not subject to revision, bringing the total amount to 1 218 200 Swiss francs, not subject to revision. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: CH - 90%; US - 9% and GB - 1%.
