description This document concerns the award of a contract for the repair work in the Jura section of the LHC tunnel. Following a market survey carried out among 60 firms in 13 Member States, a call for tenders (IT-2898/ST) was sent on 17 August 2001 to nine firms and one consortium consisting of three firms in seven Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received three tenders from two firms and the consortium in three Member States. After analysis of the tenders, it was decided to contact the three bidders to quote for the work with a reduced scope. The new call for tenders was sent to the three bidders who had responded to the original call for tenders, all of whom replied. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with CHANTIERS MODERNES (FR), the lowest bidder, for the repair work in the Jura section of the LHC tunnel for a total amount of 932 154 euros (1 372 598 Swiss francs), not subject to revision. The rate of exchange which has been used is that stipulated in the tender. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: FR - 100%.
