Proposal for the award of a contract for the supply of instrumentation cover flanges for the LHC cryomagnets

This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of instrumentation cover flanges for the LHC cryomagnets. Following a market survey carried out among 58 firms in eleven Member States and a price enquiry (DO-20015/LHC/LHC) for qualifying prototypes sent to four firms and three consortia consisting of two firms in the Member States, a call for tenders (IT-2857/LHC/LHC) for the series production was sent on 30 November 2001 to two firms and one consortium consisting of two firms in three Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received three tenders from two firms and one consortium in three Member States. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with SOCIETE DES CERAMIQUES TECHNIQUES (FR), the lowest bidder, for the supply of 1654 instrumentation cover flanges for a total amount of 3 225 796 Swiss francs, not subject to revision, with an option for 100 additional instrumentation cover flanges, for an additional amount of 195 000 Swiss francs, subject to revision for inflation after 31 December 2005, bringing the total amount to 3 420 796 Swiss francs. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: FR - 98.4%; DE - 1.6%.
