Sumario:This document concerns the award of a contract for mechanical engineering design work at CERN. Following a market survey carried out among 54 firms in fourteen Member States, a call for tenders (IT-2879/EST) was sent on 13 August 2001 to eight firms and three consortia, each consisting of two firms, in eight Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received four tenders from two firms and two consortia in four Member States. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with the consortium KRAFTANLAGEN (DE) - THALES (FR), the lowest bidder, for mechanical engineering design work at CERN for an initial period of three years from 1 January 2003 for a total amount not exceeding 14 500 000 Swiss francs, subject to revision for inflation from 1 January 2005. The contract will include an option for two further one-year extensions beyond the initial three-year period. The consortium has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract values covered by this adjudication proposal: DE - 50%, FR - 50%.
