Proposal for the Award of a Contract for Maintenance and Operation of the Gas Distribution Systems in the Experimental Areas of CERN

This document concerns the award of a contract for maintenance and operation of and work on the gas distribution systems in the experimental areas of CERN. Following a market survey carried out among 46 firms in ten Member States, a call for tenders (IT-2717/EST) was sent on 10 December 2001 to seven firms and five consortia, each consisting of two firms, in seven Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received six tenders from two firms and four consortia in six Member States. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract for maintenance and operation of the gas distribution systems in the experimental areas of CERN with the consortium CEGELEC CENTRE EST (FR) - CEGELEC (DE), the lowest bidder. The proposed contract is for an initial period of three years, coming into force on 1 September 2002 and the total amount will not exceed 2 608 000 Swiss francs, not subject to revision. The contract will include an option for two further one-year extensions beyond the initial three-year period. The consortium has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: DE-60%, FR-40%.
