Proposal for the Award of a Contract for the Supply of Finished Beam Screens for LHC Arc Magnets

This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of 3540 finished beam screens for LHC arc magnets. Following a market survey carried out among 65 firms in thirteen Member States, a call for tenders (IT-2973/LHC/LHC) was sent on 1 March 2002 to seven firms and one consortium, consisting of two firms, in six Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received five tenders from five firms in three Member States. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with ACCLES AND POLLOCK (GB), the lowest bidder after alignment, for the supply of 3540 finished beam screens for LHC arc magnets for a total amount of 3 732 358 pounds sterling (8 846 832 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, with an option for 10% additional finished beam screens, for an additional amount of 373 236 pounds sterling (884 683 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, bringing the total amount to 4 105 593 pounds sterling (9 731 515 Swiss francs), not subject to revision. The rate of exchange which has been used is that stipulated in the tender. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: GB - 100%.
