Sumario:This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of 164 austenitic steel shells for the cold masses of the LHC insertion quadrupoles. Following a market survey carried out among 94 firms in sixteen Member States, a call for tenders (IT-3084/LHC/LHC) was sent on 13 May 2002 to four firms and one consortium, consisting of two firms, in six Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received four tenders from four firms in four Member States. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with JAPROTEK (FI), the lowest bidder, for the supply of 164 austenitic steel shells for the cold masses of the LHC insertion quadrupoles for a total amount of 509 220 euros (751 173 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, with an option for an additional 18 shells, for an additional maximum amount of 55 890 euros (82 446 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, bringing the total amount to 565 110 euros (833 619 Swiss francs), not subject to revision. The rate of exchange that has been used is that stipulated in the tender. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: FI - 100%.
