Sumario:This document concerns the award of a contract for equipment transport and handling for LHC installation work. Following a market survey carried out among 125 firms in fourteen Member States, a call for tenders (IT-3132/ST/LHC) was sent on 26 June 2002 to seven firms and three consortia, one consortium consisting of four firms and two consortia consisting of two firms, in eight Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received seven tenders from three firms and four consortia in seven Member States. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with the consortium PICKFORDS VANGUARD (GB) - ALLIED PICKFORDS POLSKA (PL), the lowest bidder after alignment, for equipment transport and handling for LHC installation work for a total amount not exceeding 13 821 538 euros (20 336 259 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, covering the LHC installation period starting on 1 January 2003. The rate of exchange used is that stipulated in the tender. The consortium has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: GB - 60%, PL - 40%.
