Proposal for the Award of a Contract for the Supply of 13 kA, 190 V Thyristor Power Converters for the LHC

This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of nine 13 kA, 190 V thyristor 2-quadrant power converters for the LHC. Following a market survey carried out among 99 firms in nineteen Member States, a call for tenders (IT-2942/SL/LHC) was sent on 25 October 2002 to seven firms in four Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received four tenders from four firms in three Member States. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with OCEM (IT), the lowest bidder, for the supply of nine 13 kA, 190 V thyristor power converters for a total amount of 2 006 931 Swiss francs, not subject to revision. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: IT - 80%; FR - 5%; CH - 5%; Other - 10%.
