Spectral Functions and the Strong Coupling Constant $\alpha_s$ in $\tau$ Decays from OPAL
A measurement of the strong coupling constant \as\ from \tds\ by the OPAL collaboration is presented. The result using the contour improved third order calculation is $\as\left(\mtau^2\right) = 0. 348 \pm 0.009 \pm 0.019$\ or $\as\left(m_{Z^0}^2\right) = 0.1219 \pm 0.0010 \pm 0.0017$.
