Sumario: | Searches by the four LEP experiments at centre-of-mass energies above the z0 for new particles with particular experimental signatures are reviewed. This is based on preliminary results, and covers the searches for events with long-lived charged heavy particles, leptons and gauge bosons, photons only, photons with missing energy and events with four hadronic jets. No convincing evidence for new particle production has so far been unearthed. In particular, an interpretation of the ALEPH 4-jet excess as new physics is contradicted by the combined result of DELPfil, L3 and OPAL which is consistent with the Standard Model expectation. |
