3D Simulation of Charge Transfer in a Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) and Comparison to Experiment
A 3D simulation of the electric field and avalanche simulation in a Gas Electron Multiplier (GEM) is performed. Results on transparency have been compared to experiment and agree within experimental errors; avalanche mechanism and positive ion feedback are studied.
