Sumario:Current theories of dark matter and the origin of cosmic structure will be discussed and compared with the latest data on fluctuations in the cosmic background radiation and large and intermadiate scale structure in the universe.The Cold + Hot Dark Matter (CHDM) theory will be emphasized. Super computer animations visualizing data vs. high-resolution CDM and CHDM simulations will be shown. CHDM with Omega = 1 and a total neutrino mass of about 5 eV shared between two or three neutrino species,corresponding to Omega (hot) = 0.2 for H0 = 50, appears to give the best account of all the available date of any theory yet studied. Crucial astrophysical tests of this model will be described, as well as evidence from ongoing experiments including Kamiokande and LSND suggesting that the neutrino masses may actually fit this pattern.
