Sumario: | The transfer of technology from basic research fields such as Particle Physics to more applied areas such as medical imaging, although often promising, is not always as straightforward as it may at first appear. The constraints imposed by the specific application in one field may complicate or even invalidate an approach that appears promising from the perspective of the other field. Careful attention must be paid to specific details. This talk will discuss examples of particle physics techniques that have had an impact on medical imaging, and critically examine the procedure by which the transfer of such technology is accomplished between the two fields. |
