Sumario: | The Forum Engelberg is an annual interdisciplinary conference held in Engelberg, Switzerland intended to act as an international platform for debate and exchange of views on key issues affecting scientific research, technology, economics and philosophy. Its President is Hubert Curien - former French Minister of Research and Space Research, and President of the CERN Council from 1994 to 1996. He is pictured here (centre) with (left to right) Raymond Battistella, Director-General of SIG, Geneva's utilities provider; Michel Della Negra; Marie-Anne Heimo; Jean-Claude Landry; and Bernard Ecoffey, Founder of the Forum Engelberg, in front of the CMS detector under construction. Visible are three of the five concentric rings forming the barrel yoke which returns the magnetic flux generated by the superconducting coil. |
