Sumario:A search for the putative candidate for the narrow tensor (2/sup ++/) glueball, xi (2230), identified by BES(BEPC) in the radiative decay of J/ psi , has been made using the Crystal Barrel detector at LEAR (CERN). No evidence for any enhancement in pp to pi /sup 0/ pi /sup 0 /, eta eta , and pi /sup 0/ eta channels is observed in the region 2222 to 2240 MeV. Limits on the branching ratios for the formation and decay of the candidate xi (2230) resonance are presented. (12 refs).
