Precision mass measurements of exotic nuclei in the experimental storage ring ESR

The experiments for direct mass measurements of exotic nuclei are carried out at the high-energy heavy ion facilities SIS-FRS-ESR at GSI. Stable beams are accelerated to relativistic energies and are directed onto targets at the entrance of the projectile fragment separator FRS, where exotic nuclei are produced in fragmentation or fission reactions.
