Sumario: | The Compact Muon Solenoid (CMS) is one of the two detectors proposed for the Large Hadron Collider at CERN. Recently, the CMS Tracker Collaboration has finalized the design of the CMS inner tracking detector. After characterizing the detector layout, we review the algorithms developed for track and vertex reconstruction. We discuss the reconstruction capability for several benchmark event topologies and assess the projected performance of the CMS tracking detector. (8 refs). |
