Sumario:The CNGS project was approved by CERN Council in December 1999. This report gives a short description of the Muon Neutrino beam to be built at CERN in the direction of the INFN Gran Sasso underground laboratory (LNGS). The first goal of this new facility is the production of sufficient Muon Neutrino in an energy region optimised for the detection of an adequate number of Tau neutrino - produced by oscillation - at LNGS. The layout, cost, schedule and the expected beam performance of the CNGS facility is summarised.
