Sumario:The field quality in the superconducting magnets is expressed in terms of the coefficients of the Fourier series expansion of the field in the aperture, at a reference radius. Scaling laws for different coefficients and reference radii are presented and the field generated by line currents in 2 and 3 dimensions is derived from basic principles.
