| Sumario: | The LHCb experiment's vertex locator, VELO, facilitates B-physics studies by providing precise information about both the production and decay vertices of b-hadrons. In addition, VELO is part of the second level trigger system for the experiment. This article reviews the design of the VELO detector, pointing out some of its distinguising features.
