Partial wave analysis results from JETSET

The JETSET experiment has conducted a partial wave analysis of its data set for the reaction pp to phi phi . Of particular interest in this analysis is the decomposition of the cross section in the vicinity of the maximum, which coincides with the mass of the narrow xi (2230) whose existence and quantum numbers have been open to question for a long time. The PWA results are consistent with the existence of a 2/sup ++/ resonance at 2.225 GeV/c/sup 2/ with a width of 30 MeV/c/sup 2/. (5 refs).
