Second postcard from the island of stability
Experiments on synthetic nuclei continue to explore a world that is very remote from our own experience. Recent studies at the Joint Institute for Nuclear Research, Dubna, near Moscow, report another inhabitant of a long-awaited island of nuclear stability, this time with 116 protons. (5 refs).
