Baryon number transfer and central net baryon density in elementary hadronic interactions
New NA49 data on baryon and anti-baryon production in nucleon + proton interactions demonstrate the importance of isospin effects and asymmetric baryon pair production. Consequences for the interpretation of baryon number transfer and central net baryon density are discussed. (3 refs).
