Proposal for the Award of a Contract for the Supply 1000 Quench Heater Power Supplies for the LHC

This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of 1000 quench heater power supplies for the LHC. Following a market survey carried out among 84 firms in fifteen Member States, a call for tenders (IT-3167/AB/LHC) was sent on 18 February 2003 to 10 firms in eight Member States. By the closing date, CERN had received 10 tenders from the 10 firms in eight Member States. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with EFACEC (PT), the lowest bidder, for the supply of 1000 quench heater power supplies for a total amount of 704 113 euros (1 042 018 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, with an option for additional purchases of up to 1000 quench heater power supplies, for an additional maximum amount of 704 113 euros (1 042 018 Swiss francs), not subject to revision, bringing the total amount to 1 408 226 euros (2 084 036 Swiss francs). The rate of exchange used is that stipulated in the tender. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: PT - 53%; SE - 40%; ES - 7%.
