Proposal for the Award of a Contract for the Supply of 6 kA and 8 kA, 8 V Switched-Mode Power Converters for the LHC

This document concerns the award of a contract for the supply of 176 switched-mode power converters rated at 6 kA, 8 V and 24 switched-mode power converters rated at 8 kA, 8 V, power module testers, training and spare parts for the LHC. Following a market survey carried out among 81 firms in seventeen Member States and a call for tenders for prototypes (IT-2866/SL/LHC) sent on 11 June 2001, a call for tenders (IT-2866/SL/LHC/Rev.) for the supply of switched-mode power converters was sent on 9 December 2002 to two firms and one consortium in four Member States. The Finance Committee is invited to agree to the negotiation of a contract with the firm KEMPPI (FI) for the supply of 176 switched-mode power converters rated at 6 kA, 8 V and 24 switched-mode power converters rated at 8 kA, 8 V, power module testers, training and spare parts for a total amount of 11 306 300 Swiss francs, not subject to revision. The rate of exchange used is that stipulated in the tender. The firm has indicated the following distribution by country of the contract value covered by this adjudication proposal: FI - 52%; DE - 25%; IT - 8%; SE - 4%; CH - 4%; Others - 7%.
