Sumario:Consistent measurements of event-shape variables and alpha_s using the complete set of data taken with the ALEPH detector at LEP are presented. The strong coupling constant is determined from a fit of O(alpha_s^2)+NLLA QCD calculations to distributions of six event-shape variables at eight centre-of-mass energies. A new method is proposed to estimate theoretical systematic uncertainties. The results are compared to the expected evolution of alpha_s.
