Sumario: | The discovery potential of the ATLAS detector for the heavy Standard Model Higgs in the channel H->ZZ->llnunu is presented. This channel provides a good discovery significance for the SM Higgs between 500 and 1000 GeV for an integrated luminosity of 100 fb-1. Both the gluon fusion and boson fusion mechanisms contribute to the Higgs in that range. The most important signature is the large missing transverse energy generated by the Z->nunu decay together with the reconstruction of the Z->ll decay. A good sensitivity to the mass is obtained when forward jet tagging is applied, selecting the boson fusion mechanism. The result of this study can be applied to other models that predict a resonance in the boson fusion or gluon fusion channel. |
