description The models of the Read-Out Crate, the Sub-Farm Crate and the DAQ-Unitin the DAQ/EF prototype -1 are reviewed. Implementations of theRead-Out Crate and the Sub-Farm Crate on different configurationsof Single Board Computers (SBC) are discussed and the software analysed with emphasis on the task structure of the I/O Module instances.For each implementation, measurements of the event rate in the Read-Out Crate and the Sub-Farm Crate were performed with event fragments generated either locally (by the SBC) or via ROB-INs(Read-Out Crate only). The hardware consisted of PowerPC basedVMEbus SBCs (CES RIO8062) equipped with up to four ROB-INs(CES MFCC8441).
