Prospects for the observability of the WH and ZH, H-->bb channel in 14 TeV pp and 2 TeV ppbar collisions (ETmiss + bb final state).

description | A detailed study of the associated Standard Model Higgs boson production in 14 TeV pp (LHC) and 2 TeV ppbar (Tevatron) collisions, WH/ZH with H-->bb decay and ETmiss + bb signature, is presented for the benchmark value of the Higgs mass, mH=100 GeV. The observation of these events with ATLAS at LHC[1] is considered to be not feasible because of the overwhelming background for the QCD events. Contraty, this signature is claimed as being promising one for the Higgs mass range of 90-140 GeV at Tevatron ppbar collider[2]. The aim of this paper is to provide several details which lead to a quantitative comparison, in the consistent framework, of the physics potential for this signature in both colliding scenarios. The emphasis is put on the differences in the expected signal and backgorund rates and the background composition. Together with the similar study presented in [3], on the WH/ZH production with lbb and llbb final states, it covers most sensitive signatures discussed in the Tevatron report [2] for the Higgs searches in the mass range 90-140 GeV. |
