Descripción
Sumario:99-041 The design of the vertex detector in the LHCb Technical Proposal is provided with several cavity shaped structures which might exhibit strong RF coupling with the LHC beams. This note describes a first investigation of the excited wake fields in the vertex detector surroundings due to passing bunches. Simulation results show that a wake field suppressing technique, such as strip shielding, is needed because of the risk of inadmissible heat load.
