description To establish the Electroweak Symmetry Breaking mechanism of the Standard Model (SM), not only the Higgs boson has to be discovered, but its potential has to be determined experimentally via the measurement of the Higgs self-couplings. In this note we study the accessibility of the SM Higgs self-couplings at the LHC through the measurement of the cross section for Higgs pairs production. We focus on the mass range $140 GeV \le m_H \le 200 GeV$, where the Higgs decays mainly in WW or ZZ. We identify the most promising channels for the signal observation and evaluate the main SM backgrounds. The potential of a SUPER LHC with an upgraded luminosity of the order $10^{35} cm^{-2}s^{-1}$ is also evaluated.
