Sumario:We study the response of the electromagnetic barrel module P15 to the electrons and pions using the H8 beam test data in the beam momenta range from 20 to 180 GeV/c. Optimal filtering method is used to reconstruct the raw signals. We study electron identification and $e\/\pi$ separation using energy profile of various layers only, energy profile and cell information from various layers; energy profile and cell information together with total energy deposit. Information from the Cherenkov counter in the beam line is used to select electron and pion sample at 20 and 40 GeV. Cut on total energy deposite is applied to obtain electron sample at higher energies. Result using both simple cuts and Neural Network methods are presented. We find cell information from various layers provide additional discriminating power to separate electrons and pions.
