Detecting Standard Model Higgs-Boson in the Channel pp -> HW, H -> bb with CMS

Sumario:The production of the Standard Model Higgs boson in the associated production process pp -> HW with H -> bb decay in the mass range from 80 GeV to 140 GeV is studied. An integrated luminosity of 3 x 10 to 4inverse pb is assumed. An isolated electron or muon from the W-decay is used as the trigger. The W is identified by reconstructing the transverse W mass. Exactly two b-jets are identified by b-tagging using an impact parameter method. A delta-R cut between the jets was found to be useful for the event selection and for reducing some of the backgrounds. The main backgrounds are: WZ, ttbar and W+2 jets ( e.g. Gluon splitting).
