Evaluation and selection of analogue optical links for the CMS tracker - methodology and application

A methodology for analysing the analogue performance of the optical link for the CMS tracker has been developed. The methodology enables, through a process of data compaction, easy comparison between different link alternatives. It is demonstrated how the best link configurations can be found in ter...

description A methodology for analysing the analogue performance of the optical link for the CMS tracker has been developed. The methodology enables, through a process of data compaction, easy comparison between different link alternatives. It is demonstrated how the best link configurations can be found in terms of system performance. The described method is also a first step towards a procedure to track performance during the link production and installation phase.
